I have played LOTRO about one month and somewhere nearly level 34 it became monster grinding because so many quests needed grouping to be done. What makes Guild Wars so awesome that it is not like WoW/LOTRO game where players just play mainly for leveling and then quit when get max level and got own epic set.

Healing in WoW isn't very difficult at all Zinger, I assume you're talking about fights like HKM which are why healers are assigned to the appropriate tanks. and the raid healers pick up the rest making it a very mindless easy task. End-game bosses just don't one hit casters they one hit anyone without the proper defenses and tanking gear (crushing blows).

I played GW trough all three campaigns and switched to WoW in January. Been played WoW every since. I have 1 Lvl 70 and a few Alts. It is a really fun PvE game but last night I played GW because I plan on playing GWEN. Boy I really missed this game. It took me some time to re adjust but once I did I remember why I loved this game. Now I'm not giving up WoW all together but I will playing GW again. Now just to build my guild up again lol.

Both games have a lot to offer. I just can't wait till GW2 comes and hopefully get the best of both worlds and not pay monthly for it.

Why're you looking for PUGs? PUGs = formula to disaster. Just like in GW, if you want to progress through the game, you'll need reliable people to do so. PUGs are not reliable.

And keep in mind, the reason there *are* henchmen in the game is because the game can't be soloed. You need party members for every area, and there are just not enough real people for that. I'm sure if the explorable areas were able to be soloed, that there wouldn't be any henchmen or heroes.

Shadow Priests are awesome in 2v2 with a Warlock, and still very solid in instances. Moreso in raids.

Hmm I think has been the most mature Guild Wars vs WoW thread so far. However sadly that isn't saying much.

Personally I think the best arguement so far is that WoW = PvE and Guild Wars = PvP because well when my guildies don't have enough for GvG they often play Wow. However as soon as we get 8 on vent we automatically get a GvG set up.

I absolutely agree with that. I feel that WoW was built from the ground up to have a rich PvE experience to the detriment of its PvP, which they then later took measures to fix. GW was built to be a competitive and balanced PvP oriented game to the detriment of its PvE, which they later tried to improve upon. I think Anet hated certain things they saw as 'standard' in the MMORPG template but went a little too far in the other direction coming up with an alternative. I also think they will crack it for GW2 though.

It's good to see people not slagging off WoW as much here. There's nothing wrong with disliking it but doing so just because you play GW is pretty stupid. I have a feeling these people are the same ones that ally themselves with a particular console and flame the rest, while the grownups just go out and buy all of them.

Just because I play GW doesn't mean I have to turn in my Blizzard fanboy card.

the PvP aspect of Guild Wars blows WoW's PvP out of the water, so if your going to pick one on that reason alone, Guild Wars is a much better choice.

Nope. What you kill by yourself is what you get. Some people solo low-level instances for massive loot.

tbh GW is better once you WoW is alot of fun until you hit around lv.38 then it is constant grinding with the odd quests that help.

you have amybe 3 months to get to lv.70 until the game begins and then another 2 months roughly to get to lv.80 (next exp.)

so around 5 months to get a char lv.80, then start grinding for your armour.

but thb gw missions takea around 30 min avg. instances take around 2-3 hours.

in WoW there always at least 1.30 min so you need a proper party.

i like spamming in towns but its just me

and you can gather money by opening chests and farming goldies fdss and such

in gw: what you kill by yourself is whaty you get. but you dont get as much as in team and in team you get 1/8 so its fair (its still easy to make money)

and zinger do u enjoy saying shit things to gw in a gw fanforum? go play wow and pay much money for it (and yes im your mother)

I recently got a new computer, switching from a Windows OS to a Mac OS. Guild Wars is not compatible with Macs, so I didn't have a game to play... other than World of Warcraft, which I had just started. My older computer was incredibly slow and had tons of problems, but the graphics on this computer are A-MAY-ZING, so the only problems I ever have are server lag and the occasional disconnect.

But now, I have Bootcamp working on my Macbook, allowing me to reinstall guild wars if I want to. The problem is that I need to dedicate myself to one game or the other. If I split time between the two, I'll either end up being mediocre at both or spending WAY too much time playing and my grades (college sophomore) will suffer.

Which game should I choose? GW: EotN is coming out incredibly soon, but WoW: WofLK is not too far off. Game balance in GW was atrocious when I stopped playing, but I practically had an orgasm when I saw the recent skill updates. Which game will be more fun and rewarding to a PvP crazy gamer?
Seriously, if you are worried about school grades, then AVOID WoW at all cost! WoW is a serious life-eater!

In term of PVE Gameplay and fun, WoW > GW. But GW has its good points too. If you prefer a game that you can play at your own time, GW is the game to go. It is like many said already, awfully casual. But if you are the type that want to talk to people and prefer the social aspect of MMO over gameplay, then WoW is the better choice, but that's also where you will get sucked in. e.g Just to help a buddy, you will spend a bit more time in the game and boom! You've just spent more time than you ever planned to already.

And about PvP, I would not recommend any of those 2 games for PvP. I can tell you that I have been playing GW PvP a lot, and tell you that it gets awfully stale after a while. I'd suggest another game like Gears of war or a DoD , or even DoTA for PvP fun TBH. Faster and much more fun IMO. But that's only my preference.

Try the Preview weekend for GWEN, then decide for yourself which one is better suited for you, and your time-table.

Have you actually played WoW though?

Yes the animation is a bit "cartoonish" but once you start playing you see past it.

Ridiculous enemies? nah raids are huge fun, the wait however isn't.

Grind - yea there is grind, but as WoW's 9million subscriptions points out..people like grind. I liked the level cap also. I'm a 1 char kind of person. I can't roll out char after char like some people. WoW let me play one char and not get bored doing it.

Meh anyway..I reinstalled EVE..there goes my free time just waiting for some skills to level then I'm good to go.

Nay. They are there just because Blizzard and because many others are there.
Once they start palying, the feel like they can't leave.

You can leave GW for ages and come back later and you'll still love this. And you'll need to pay no fines.
